Got up, had a nice coconut breakfast followed by a crap breakfast in a café opposite ex-telecoms
After going to Joe's shop and borrowing 6,000 shillings, we made our way to Kariakoo to catch our bus to Morogoro. When we arrived at the Abood bus terminal we found out that the next bus was to leave at 1.30, which gave us forty minutes to get something to eat and wander round. The man there advised us to pay the fare on the bus.
However, ten minutes before the time of departure, we turned up and were informed that the 1.30 bus was full. Obviously, the bastard was hoping for a bribe, but we kicked up a stink about the fact that we were there 40 minutes ago. Oddly enough there were seats spare after all.
As seems normal on African buses, we shared the bus with batches of various merchandise, including 7 or 8 boxes of yellow chicks.
When we arrived at Morogoro we were quite intimidated by the size of the peak. Clouds rolled over the top like surf.
In the evening we had a beer at the Morogoro Hotel for a disturbing 390 shillings and then found a café where we were served a gourmet dish known as "Rice Meat". I consisted of stone-cold rice and green meat served along with its ineffective preservative spices.
We then retired to our luxury 400-shilling room at the guest house. If we had changed our dollars on the black market, we would have been paying a massive 25p each for the room!
