Day started by missing the younger Mohammed. He was supposed to meet us outside our hotel at mid-day. Instead he came to what used to be our room at 11.30 and then cleared off as we weren’t there.
Felfela Village

Ate brunch in usual place (Felfela Village) and wrote letters, postcards and diary. There we met Mohammed again and reminded him to be at our hotel at 8pm for some beers. Tried to get money with Visa but was refused again, wrote more letters/postcards in the Sheraton Hotel and made our way back to Hotel Suisse for the meet-up. The younger Mohammed failed us again but we met the older Mohammed in the street (well, in his friend’s car). We drove to Giza and drank tea and beer and all talked. Mohammed’s friend, Mohammed-Abdul is studying a Masters Degree in Archaeology so that he will qualify to take tourists on tours around museums and archaeological sites. He talked a lot about history, even when it didn’t seem too relevant. I think that may of his analogies were lost in the translation though. Nevertheless, both he and Mohammed are interesting company. Mohammed-Abdul is a terrifying driver; he swerves in and out of traffic at tremendous speed. I though I was going to die at least once during the journey from Downtown to Giza.

It was absolutely freezing at 2am when we left Mohammed’s apartment. We got a good result with the taxi-driver. The price was not mentioned at the outset, and we gave him E£6 at the end, which he had no choice about accepting, as that is a reasonable fare.
