Another pleasant, relaxing day. Managed to get to the beach by eleven—just as the heavy rain-clouds started giving way to brilliant sunshine.

After consuming our first pineapple of the day, we headed straight for the pool owned by the Silver Beach Hotel.

Unfortunately we were unaware of the sun-bed booking system in operation so, when we took the beds occupied by the two gawping German girls, a member of the hotel staff recognised us as imposters with great ease. Thankfully we were not expelled from the premises; but we did have to pay 50 shillings to rent the sun-bed for the day. Very good value for money in my opinion, but not as good as using the hotel's facilities for free.

After much splashing in the pool, and when we were satisfied that our tans had improved sufficiently, we got the bus back to the town to have our evening meal. I was starving, so I didn't feel guilty for ordering two sausages, three samosas, an egg, and two portions of chips, all washed down with a bottle of coke and a bottle of Tusker lager. My most expensive meal in the Third World came to 79 shillings.
