Tried to stay in bed as long as possible to delay spending money on food. We were very poor and keen to stick to spending only the $55 we had withdrawn at Nairobi Airport.

We managed to stay in bed until after ten, and fought off our hunger pangs until half past one. A pie and chips at John & Joe's soon put us right. We found our bus stop for the airport and were told that the price would be around 5/-. Not bad compared to 400/- for a taxi.

After lazing around and showering at the hostel, we left once more for John & Joe's to get there before it shut at seven. Thankfully, we failed.

We then spent over an hour wandering around the city trying to find a restaurant that both took credit cards and wouldn't make too bad a mess of our financial situation. In the end we settled for The Dragon Pearl on Standard Street, a swish-looking Chinese place.

The meal was excellent and there was loads of it. We were feeling particularly extravagant so we both had soup. After we had ordered a beer each, the final bill was 611/-. Not bad at all for what we got.

On the way back to the hostel we were propositioned by a prostitute, which I found tremendously exciting.
