Got up late and walked to the station after reviewing our finances and deciding that the only solution to the crisis is self-starvation.

After the 1½ hour walk we arrived at the Tazara railway station. We were amazed at the size of the building, even more so when we discovered that there is a maximum of one train departing each day. Unfortunately the 1st-class tickets had sold out so we booked 2nd-class, which was very expensive at 5,800 shillings.

On arriving back in town we went to see Joe at his shop to arrange a loan. This was no problem as he has already offered once.

In the evening we went for a meal and a few beers at the Dar Brothership club with Jenti again. After the meal we went through the daily ritual of driving to the beach. There was a lot of prostitution on the way this time. Some guy was picking one up in his 4-wheel drive as we passed him.

At the beach we encountered a couple of odd women while we were in the car after sitting talking on the beach. One of them sat with her car door open, stroking her vulva through her jeans while the other one caressed her seat and appeared to remove her bra after a while. They occasionally glanced over at us. After a few minutes I tired of their silliness so I blew a very loud kiss at them. Totally unimpressed, they seemed to ignore us after that. Their behaviour was strange because it was obvious that they had come to the beach with their boyfriends.

Whoops! Forgot to mention something we found out today. While we drank tea at Joe's we told Anil the story about Olly's counterfeit dollars. Anil and Joe were surprised that Olly had not kept hold of the English guy's passport as they can fetch a good deal of money. They suggested we talk to Jenti in order to solicit the most up-to-date information about the bent passport trade. At the Dar Brotherhood we did just that, and the answer was £1,000 at the very least, £10,000 if you're very lucky! What a bummer.
