I rose at about ten as I was still tired from travelling. Our first job was to buy some groceries from a supermarket near the youth hostel and we were surprised to find it about the same price as Britain.

After a spot of sunbathing in Uhuru Park, we walked into town to try and sort some things out. We wanted to go to the Indian Embassy, Barclays Bank, and the railway station. The bank and embassy were shut, as was the tourist information office, so we couldn't find out where the station is. However, we were able to find a very cheap supermarket as well as a fast-food place, where we had pie, chips, and Fanta for only 32 shillings.

In the evening we strolled up to where we had bought groceries from in the morning to see if either the fast-food place was open or the Chinese restaurant was affordable. We were disappointed on both counts so we walked back to the hostel and had a repulsive meal comprising very old onions, sweating cheese, eggs, and dry bread.
