Woke up around nine with a vile taste in my mouth and feeling sweaty and itchy from the heat and humidity. For this reason I was livid when not a drop of water came forth from any of the taps in the apartment.

After a couple of cold samosas and a greasy omelette, we got the midday bus to Bahari Beach. It was not excellent, as there were no sunbeds available to us. However, we used the pool for only 100 shillings and, although the hotel wasn't half as flash as the Silver Beach Hotel at Mombasa, it was a damn sight better than staying in Dar es Salaam.

On our return we were unsuccessful in our search for an affordable sit-down food place, so we bought burgers from a food stall.

Following our conversation with Anil about malaria, we bought some quinine from the chemist just in case we encounter some chloroquine-resistant malaria strains. I hope at least one of us falls ill as it cost 760 Tsh.

In the evening we ate at a restaurant called Rendezvous. It was a really plush place and the food was great. Despite this the bill for five meals with soup and drinks was about 6,300 Tsh.
