Awoke at 6 but, as breakfast wasn't until 7, we had an extra half-hour. Today's animal-spotting was badly delayed by a puncture on the back wheel of the Panjero. Nevertheless, it was another good day. We had very close contact with some gutsy baboons that snatched sugar cane from open windows and climbed on the bonnet.

Baboon at Mikumi.

One problem was tsetsi flies when we drove deep into the bush. About 20 of them were in the car at one stage. The problem was solved by shutting the sun-roof and windows and using the A/C. Following this there ensued a wholesale slaughter in what became a mobile abattoir. Every last fly was lovingly despatched by way of insect spray or Olly's safari hat.

At midday we drove straight through from Mikumi to Dar. In the evening we had a delicious meal at Joe's place.
