Elephant outside hut at Mikumi.

In the morning we got up reasonably early and had breakfast, after which we encountered our first animals. Two large elephants strolled right past our hut! The rest of the day was superb as well. The highlight was seeing six lions lounging around in the sun, but we also saw giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, baboons, warthogs, wild buffalo, and impala.

The huts cost 9,000 Tsh, so we moved our stuff to the Mikumi Wildlife Lodge, which, as well as being cheaper, was much nicer. We shared a room with Joe; it had its own bathroom and a fantastic view of part of the park.

After a few drinks and nice dinner, we watched a crappy cine film laid on by the hotel and had an early night.
