Got up and went straight into town to get some currency out on our credit cards. They wouldn't give us dollars, so we got kwacha on the understanding that we would be able to change back to dollars if we showed the transaction slip.

After breakfast at the Garden, we booked a flight from Harare to Nairobi for the 4th March, which gives us five full days in Nairobi.

I had to get my sleeping bag washed, so we found the Snow White laundry and made our way back to the centre. I went straight to the Lusaka Hotel bar while Olly returned to Barclays to try and change the kwacha back to dollars so we could change them for K190. We had also arranged to meet the yanks there so they could change money as well.

As it turned out, Olly couldn't get dollars, as our ploy was blatantly obvious to the cashier. In fact it is their policy not to give dollars unless it can be proved that the customer is leaving very shortly.

The guy showed up to change the money, and the Americans changed $20 at K175/$.

After farting around in town for ages trying to buy some half-decent underwear, we had a meal at Mister Rooster, picked up my sleeping bag, and got the bus back to the YWCA. We had arranged to meet the yanks at some nearby zoo and botanical gardens, but we were too short of time.

Near the YWCA we bumped into another Australian who told us he had changed dollars for K250 in some other town. The lucky bastard.
