For some reason we were seconded (all 5 of us) to a different farmer today. We started off by salvaging peppers from the bloke's dying crop and then sorted them in the afternoon. The Thai volunteers from this farm are pretty slow workers. This became particularly apparent in the afternoon when we had to sort the peppers; we even stopped for quite a long break halfway through, just to guarantee not getting the job done in a half-decent time.

Where we picked peppers was actually just inside Jordan, which apparently does not please the Jordanians much. We also found out that the huge bangs that we have been hearing are old land-mines being detonated by the Israeli army. The mines' original purpose was to cause problems for the PLO guerillas who used to pop into the Moshav during the 1970s to do naughty things.

The working day concluded on an amusing note with the farmer (not Gideon) getting all het up at the total bodge we had made of the sorting, and booting us off his farm, saying he would be happier doing the job himself and that he couldn't handle being surrounded by people! He makes even Gideon look like a skilful manager. This takes some doing as Gideon is clearly a moron.
