Spent the entire day in the melon greenhouses doing more pruning due to the appalling weather. It rained intermittently and never got above 9°C. It is snowing heavily in Jerusalem and Be'er-Sheva. There are also streaks of snow on the Jordanian mountains to the east.

Banjo showed what a kind, compassionate human being he is by feeding a live bird to George. The stupid dog just gave his rib cage a little squeeze with his teeth and then dropped him on the sand. I think the bird was dead after that but, just to be sure, I threw a rock onto it as hard as I could.

In the evening we had a lively discussion with Godwin about religion. I told him that I did not believe in God and put forward my wacky theories about evolution.
